About
The Tivoli Club of WA Inc.
The Tivoli Club of WA holds a unique place in the entertainment scene of Western Australia - being the only non-professional theatre that produces three variety/cabaret shows throughout the year. Founded originally in 1971 by Jack "Skinny" Martin to do a restricted number of shows, it was found that the real "Old Time Vaudville" entertainment proved popular with audiences.
The Club was mobile, giving performances in various suburban halls and clubs throughout Perth. In 1973 the Club found a permanent home in the Applecross District Hall, now referred to as the Tivoli Theatre. It was at this time the Trembath School of Dance was approached and agreed to join the Club and provide dancers for the shows.
In the 1980's the club introduced a junior club original called "The Melville School of Stagecraft" now known as "Tivoli Youth Performers". Young performers aged 6-17 are given the opportunity to perform one show a year (four performances), allowing them to develop their talents and confidence.
For more than 50 years The Tivoli Club of WA Inc has provided a variety/cabaret style show to the public of Perth and still continues to be self funded with all performers and crew being volunteers.
